Congratulations to Liam Shanahan and the crew of “Ruth” who took line honours in last weekend’s KONA ISORA Dun Laoghaire to Pwllheli Yacht Race. Second place overall went to “Elandra” with “Polish Manx” coming home third.
The prize giving event takes place at Pwllheli Sailing Club next Thursday 31st where John Rutter (KONA MD) will present the fabulous set of KONA trophies as well as our Special Achievement award for the best photograph taken during the race.

Following on from the successful installation of the 80m SLX5 PMM (permanent met mast) at Langhope Rig Windfarm, KONA are delighted to announce that we have secured another two contracts with SSE Generation Development to install four more SLX5 PMMs on wind farm sites in Scotland – two at Strathy North and two at Dunmaglass Wind. Both wind farms are currently under construction.
The SLX5, our self-supporting model, is designed to BS8100 & BS5950 to support meteorological instruments and sensors for 25 years on site service life.
This order represents over 1000 masts installed by our company to date and 18 years continuous work with SSE.
KONA are delighted to announce that we have recently installed our 1000th mast system.
The system installed for Scene Consulting Limited is a 60m SLX1 TMM (temporary met mast) with meteorological instruments, sensors and a data recording & transmit system. KONA are also providing data monitoring, analysis and reporting to Scene who are Community Energy Specialists.
KONA have been designing and installing mast and tower systems for over 33 years. Our SLX range is fast becoming the design of choice for leading companies involved in Aviation, Broadcast, Telecommunications, and Renewables.

SSE Renewables select KONA‘s SLX5 permanent met mast for Langhope Rig.
We are pleased to confirm the successful installation of our latest SLX5 PMM. This 80m model along with instruments and sensors was installed for SSE Renewables at their 16MW Langhope Rig Windfarm in Scotland.
Designed to BS8100 & BS5950 for 25 years (min) service life, the SLX5 PMM is the ideal meteorological reference tower for the full windfarm lifecycle.
Current orders include 100m Ireland, 2no. 70m Scotland, 80m Ireland, 80m Jordan & 2no. 70m England.
A new record for KONA. We are delighted to announce the successful installation of our tallest self supporting lattice tower in our 33 year history.
The 100m SLX5 PMM (permanent met mast) was supplied by KONA to Gaeltec – KTL who are constructing the Mount Lucas Windfarm for Bord na Mona in Ireland.
Designed to BS8100, BS5950 & ISO EN 61400-12-1 for 25 years (minimum) service life, the SLX5 PMM is fast becoming the tower of choice for wind farm developers across Ireland & UK.
Current SLX5 PMM orders include: another 100m Ireland, 2 x 80m Ireland, 72m Jordan, 2 x 70m Scotland and 2 x 65m UK with several more in the planning phase – one of which is some 135m high.
Operating from Dunboyne (Ireland) & Bromsgrove (UK), KONA are a leading supplier of masts & towers to the Aviation, Broadcast, Telecommunications, Transport and Renewables industries.
Our structures are commonly used to support antennas, CCTV, floodlights, meteorological instruments, microwave link dishes and radar.
